Wonderful People in Our Lives!

Wedding Party: Lina, Lisa, Lee, Rev David, Alva, Christopher, Dave, Jeff, and Scott

Our Parents, Alva's Mom, Dave's Mom and Dad: your faith in Jesus was the foundation that ultimately brought Dave and Alva together. We are forever grateful to you teaching us to love Jesus when we were young!

Alva's family: Aunt Doris, Jenny, Brenda, Uncle James, Aunt Wilma, Mom, Davey, Alva, Dave, and Polly.

Dave's family: Nephew Ed, Ed's girl Katie, Curt, Amy, Alva, Dave, and Dave's Parents.

Dave and Alva -- Denise and Dave. Dave and Denise are an amazing missionary couple and we were so blessed you were able to come to Dallas to officiate our ceremony. Your counsel, willingness to be available to us anytime, and most importantly, your heart for serving and teaching others about Jesus. David, you truly have a fearless heart for serving God and Denise, you are uniquely gifted as his best friend, ministry partner, and soul mate. You two inspire us!

Lisa, Darrell, your adorable children Christopher and Lee, with Lisa's Mom, Jo, known as Alva's 'other mother.' You each played such a significant role in our wedding, starting with your wonderful loving friendship, all the way through a very long, celebratory evening!

The Summer of '77 Gang. Could God have blessed us with a more special friendship and lifetime of love?! Orlando, Lina, Alva, Dave, Donnie, and Jerry.

Who knew the little kids in Garland would remain friends for life? We wrote that in our yearbooks. We share memories, laughter, and faith! Gina, Bill, Lisa, Andrea, Donnie, Orlando, Alva, Dave, Jerry, Diane, Kathy, Vicky, Kim, Margaret, and Lina.

Girls with big dreams from the days at The University of Texas. Lisa, Mandy, Dave, Alva, and Dione. Hook 'Em Horns!

Our BTBF Family. We love you all so much. Worshiping, serving, growing in Christ with you. Each of you have added richly to our lives. Thanks for investing in us and loving us, flaws and all!

Dave's colleagues...your job offer brought Dave to Dallas, which brought him to Alva. You've played a very instrumental role in our lifetime of togetherness and we are forever grateful!

Alva, Dave, Michele and Blake...we look forward to the day we celebrate at YOUR wedding!

Lee and Christopher...you added beauty to our wedding!

Jeff...Forever Clever

Jeff auctioning off a chance for a lucky one to go on Dave and Alva's honeymoon!

A Life of Love

Lina, Orlando, Jerry, and Donnie...friends from the Summer of '77 ... remembering the beginning of a wonderful bond that now spans 30 years! A friendship rooted in love and faith!

Lina's beauty radiates from within. Thank you for making my marriage to Dave all the more special by being a part of it! You, and your family, are a gift from God to me that I treasure!

Lisa, my rock, my friend, my confidante. You've loved me unconditionally. I love you so much! You knew I needed wedding help even when I didn't ask, and you showed up ready to help in any way--you give new meaning to 'get me to the church on time!' Everything you provided was more beautiful because you added your touch. You truly are superwoman!

Brenda, my beautiful cousin. Your love for our big family is so obvious--your heart so big! And you have a wonderful husband named Dave also...we will have fun with the Daves in our family!

Laura...you are so special to God, He gave you a big exclamation point! L A U R A !!! You never miss the beautiful blessings that are all around us. Thank you for reading scripture for our ceremony! You added sparkle to our day!

Mandy...always quietly observing, but never missing anything. We had an instant connection when we met in college and you gave me the gift of friendship, along with a really, really awesome first apartment! The view of Austin from a top that hill, watching the sunsets on the Capitol, and the UT Tower bathed in orange, all from our apartment window!

Alan...Dave's boss. Thanks for letting Dave off for the wedding and honeymoon. Oh yeah! We're really glad you were just joking about that 'firing' thing!

Carol and Brad...two people whose love for God, each other, and others is so apparent!

Art...you have the 'art' of romance. Teaching Dave romantic songs and being such a good friend!

Michele...your friendship has brought me such laughter! Your stories about the things you find yourself in the middle of, always make me laugh so hard tears flow! We share a love of our dogs, life, and adventure. The Summer Musicals are also a special time for us!

Dave's Mom...she has a way of making you feel right at home. Bringing extra sweaters and blankets for cold evenings in Colorado.

Margaret, Kim, and Vicky...friends since elementary and jr. high. We laughed, prayed, cried, together as we've lived out our lives. To know how rich I am, I have to look no further than at my friendships with each of you.

Master P (Preston) ... Laura's delightful son. Wise beyond his years. And his dry sense of humor is always a good time!

When Dave and I stood before you...we felt your deep love. What a glorious evening we shared with each of you. We are blessed indeed!

Scott, our friend, encourager, and light-hearted guy. He brings laughter into our lives and we are inspired by his love for Jesus, people, and willingness to always serve others!

Celebrating with Dance

Our first dance, to Edwin McCain's "I Could Not Ask for More" ... one of the most beautiful love songs ever written and performed.

Lina and Parry...Alva and Lina went out after Jerry and Kathy's wedding; there, Lina met Parry and were married about a year later. They have 3 wonderful children.

Lisa and Darrell...Lisa, always the ever gracious networker, met Darrell one evening when a friend who was set-up to meet him bailed; Lisa went to make amends and Darrell fell for her. He is a smart guy! I love how he cares for Lisa and their two children!

DJ Pat...friend, neighbor, and man, can he make some delicious homemade ice cream!

Wedding Cake

Lee asks Alva, "when will we eat the cake?"

The tradition of feeding one another cake is a sweet observant of the couple's vow to take care of one another.

Los Tres Amigos

Three handsome guys, having some fun, before the wedding! Jeff, Dave, and Scott.

Dito and Toni

Orlando and his beautiful bride Toni. Alva's friendship with Orlando begin in 1977. And in 2007, he is the jeweler who sold Dave the beautiful rings, escorted the bride's Mother, and Alva on her wedding day, and now has become a dear friend to Dave also! (In the summer of 1977, Alva became known as Alvita to the gang, and Orlando became Orlandito, then finally Dito!)

Doris and Polly

Alva's Aunt Doris and her Sister-in-Law Polly....family ties blur with such loving people! Aunt Doris has long been a Godly pillar in my life. Polly adores Dave and thinks God blessed Alva in a mighty way!

Curt and Amy

Dave's big brother and sister-in-law; the proud parents of 4 beautiful children, professionals, and karate champs!

Sharing Memories

Mom and Uncle James...with the laughter, surely they are speaking of Dad (passed away 1986) and his little sister Aunt Annelle (passed away 1985) who were both mischievous!

Mom and Aunt Wilma sharing memories. Mom's brother, Uncle Jake, was a wonderful man of God and humor! Aunt Wilma also enjoys fun and laughter.
